Just like RadioShack announced a few days ago, CNET is reporting WalMart has now added their name to the list of retailers gearing up to sell Apple’s iPhone 4 on the June 24th launch date.

Just like RadioShack announced a few days ago, CNET is reporting WalMart has now added their name to the list of retailers gearing up to sell Apple’s iPhone 4 on the June 24th launch date.

“Walmart said Friday that it will be one of several retail outlets who will have the iPhone 4 on June 24, its first day of availability anywhere. While Walmart has carried previous versions of the iPhone, this is a first that it will be for sale in its stores on the device’s official launch day.”

This is really not that shocking considering this very company was the first to slash the price on the 16 GB iPhone 3GS. So who is going to head to their local WalMart come June 24th? Sound off in the comments below!

Though the whole world was focused on the new iPhone 4 at the WWDC event, Steve Jobs used it as a perfect platform to unveil more details about iAd – Apple’s mobile advertising platform. Apple announced that it will debut its iAd mobile advertising network on July 1 on iPhone and iPod touch devices running its iOS 4 software platform. Jobs mentioned that Apple has iAd commitments for 2010 totaling over $60 million and predicted that his company would control nearly 50% of the US mobile advertising market in six months.

Apple has signed up a number of high-profile brands as iAd customers including AT&T, Best Buy, Chanel, Citi Target, Nissan, The Walt Disney Studios and Unilever. The list appears even more impressive when you consider that Apple has been selling advertisements for just eight weeks prior to the WWDC keynote. Unilever has already confirmed that it will be the first brand to start a campaign on Apple’s iAd network. During the WWDC event, Steve Jobs even showed off one of Nissan’s new interactive ads which lets users to sign up for notifications for company’s new electric car launches. The highlight of the campaign is that it allows users to move a digital car around on the screen using simple navigation features.

“This platform is going to help our developers make money so that they can continue to write free and low-cost apps for consumers. iAd offers advertisers the emotion of TV with the interactivity of the web, and offers users a new way to explore ads without being hijacked out of their favorite apps. iAds will reach millions of iPhone and iPod touch users—a highly desirable demographic for advertisers—and provide developers a new way to earn money so they can continue developing free and low cost applications.”" said Steve Jobs.

The iAd revenue model lets developers keep 60 per cent of the revenue while the remaining 40 per cent is pocketed by Apple. IMO, the USP of iAd is its unique ability to let users view ads even when while they are playing a game or watching a video on their iPad.

iAd will be available as part of the iOS4 software update, and will work on the iPhone 3G, iPhone 3GS and iPhone 4, as well as second- and third-generation iPod touch devices. Will it live up to its hype of being a game changer in the mobile advertising space? Only time will tell. Thankfully, July 1 isn’t too far.

Check out the iAd demo in WWDC 2010 to see how it works.

The iPad went on sale nationwide at 9 a.m. on Saturday and customers lined up outside Apple retail stores in cities across United States early Saturday morning to be among the first to buy the iPad, which starts at $499.

There were varied analyst expectations on iPad’s debut sales, some forecasts calling for sales between 700,000 – 800,000 while others forecasting a more realistic figure of 250,000-300,000. Most analysts believe that first-day sales do not necessarily reflect how the iPad will do over the long run.

Understandably, Steve Jobs, the main behind the iPad is jubilated at the initial sales figure. In an official press release, he mentions

“It feels great to have the iPad launched into the world—it’s going to be a game changer. iPad users, on average, downloaded more than three apps and close to one book within hours of unpacking their new iPad.”

While Apple chose not to provide any iPad forecasts, there is no doubt that there were heavy expectations ever since the iPad was unveiled in late January. Apple chose not to disclose the sales figures for Sunday. On Monday, some Apple stores reported robust sales. An Apple store in San Francisco said it ’sold out’ its first shipment of iPads on Monday morning.

It is interesting to note that some of Apple’s bestsellers have been slow starters. The iPhone had similar sales figures and sold 270,000 units in the first 30 hours of sales when it was launched three years ago. Though a few users have reported glitches related to the iPad’s Wi-Fi connection and charging, but there otherwise appeared to be no major problems.

If you are amongst the first few lucky iPad buyers, let us know your opinion about it. We’ll be glad to hear from you!

According to Mac Rumors, Best Buy is gearing up for Apple’s iPad launch on April 3rd. The retail chain is providing its employees with details leading up to launch day and stores are expecting display materials early next week. Not every Best Buy will carry the device, however. Only the stores with Apple shop sections will be lucky enough to sell iPads at launch. If you do plan on making a purchase at Best Buy on April 3rd be aware none of their stores will be opening early.

In other iPad sales news, 9to5Mac points out Amazon.com also seems to be prepping for iPad sales as well by setting up a placeholder for all three WiFi versions on their site. So while you will not see it on Amazon for sale on day one, it should not be long after.

More choices are better for the consumer, but which choice is best for you? Where will you be picking up your iPad? Let us know in the comments below!

Apple has sold an estimated 60,000 iPhones on launch day in South Korea and can be considered a success, especially if compared to the dismal sales in China.

In the 3rd quarter of 2009, the 60,000 iPhones sold equal 15% of the 400,000 total smartphones sold within the country. Not too shabby for for a single day of sales.

“In spite of the fact that the Korean market offers one of the most advanced set of mobile products and services in the world, smartphones only represent about 1% of the total mobile market, Executives at KT believe that the introduction of the iPhone could be a turning point for smartphones in Korea.”

With smartphones representing a total of only 1% of the total market, mainly due to handset manufacturers such as LG and Samsung who have long been king in this particular market, it seems like Apple has their work cut out for them.
